Der Burntwater-Teppichstil entstand nördlich des Rio Puerco-Tals in der Nähe von Sanders, Arizona. 1968 kombinierte Philomena Yazzie als erste Navajo-Weberin die Designelemente von Teppichen mit Rand aus Ganado und Two Grey Hills mit den erdfarbenen, pflanzlich gefärbten Farben aus dem regionalen Crystal-Stil.
