It is seventy-three inches long by fifty-six inches wide and weighs six pounds. You can easily reckon that the thread in it cost something, at $6 a pound, and the weaving occupied a Navaho woman for many months. It is hardly thicker than an ordinary book cover, and is almost as firm. It is too thin and stiff to be an ideal bed-blanket, and it was never meant to be one. All blankets of that quality were made to be worn on the shoulders of chiefs; and most of them were ponchos—that is, they had a small slit left in the center for the wearer to put his head through, so that the blanket would hang upon him like a cape. The Yei Be Chei weavings present the dancers as they dance, perform, and enact the ceremony of the Yeis. Male Yeis have round heads and Female Yeis have square heads. The Creation story of the Navajo Emergence as “The People or Dine” is as sacred as the Bible to the Navajo.  One theme reoccurs often and in almost all writings, that is central to the Navajo, attainment and maintenance of harmony and beauty, called Hozho.  To create Hozho ceremonies are preformed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Yei Be Chei dancers are the human impersonators of holy people which perform the ceremonies. The Yei Be Chei weavings present the dancers as they dance, perform, and enact the ceremony of the Yeis. The Yeis perform specific dances and rituals, as directed by the Medicine Man, during the ceremony for the desired end.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYei be Chei weavings are highly individual, therefore, different elements may be found in them. Male Yeis have round heads and Female Yeis have square heads.
