Hi Mark,
While I will never promise a weaving will hold it's value, I will direct you to some that are widely collected, past and present.
As I'm sure you know in the art world things can change quickly especially if items go to auction and doesn't fetch estimated value. Or worse someone with a large collection dumps it at auction.
That being said I'd like you to consider historic weavings. They have stood the test of time, are in excellent condition and continue to be popular. I gravitate toward our JB Moore rugs and Two Grey Hills. We have more JB Moores and Two Grey Hills beyond what is listed below - however these are the ones that I like. Subjective? Absolutely. It does not mean the others are not great weavings, I just really love these.
Why do I like JB Moore? Design and history. The trader JB Moore of the Crystal Trading Post was the equivalent to Sears and Roebuck. His story is a page turner.
Two Grey Hills are always in demand and these are excellent - also have a bit of modern art edge to them while still holding on to Navajo design. Two Grey Hill design is said to have been spawned out of the Crystal Trading Post. Another nod to JB Moore.
Hope this helps.
Beth
